Here's a scan of a bird I drew. the original is in Micron color pens and is no more than an inch and a half across. I like how it seems like water color at this magnification.

decided to draw a big mess I saw. also today @ college we had to create wire sculptures so I will get that up here asap

Been making some funky looking images using past work from Vassal, just playing with lighting and shadows using mostly the fuzzy brush in photoshop. First is an example before and after. I like blue lasers, contrasts well with the yellow I think..

Good Monday morning to you! I'm thinking of this Art-a-thon space as a place that I can stretch my wings a little. As artists, we're constantly challenging ourselves in little ways with questions like, 'can I draw this', 'is there a better angle to draw from', 'does that line look right'. While dealing with the minutiae of growing each and every bit of art, I think we can sometimes miss the bigger picture.

Certainly we can't always hit every point or try to grow every aspect of our art and ourselves at the same time. However, I do think that we can focus on a particular aspect, trait or behavior to improve until it becomes habit, and eventually reflex.

This inexorably leads me to my own particular goal. While drawing something every day won't be terribly difficult for me, I think that drawing something every day that I value will be. You see, I constantly undervalue my art. I even have a term for it. "Throwaway art". It's the doodles, sketches, drawings that sustain me through my day, the things I can put down in a few minutes and then forget about. I can't tell you how many times I've sketched something out, only to have someone come along and tell me how wonderful it is. What do I do with it? Give it away, without a second thought. While I recognize the good that this can generate and the joy that people have when I give it to them, I also need to value my own art and effort more.

That is why I'm here. That is why I'm posting. That is what I'm practicing... in addition to all the different scribbles and techniques and tools. Come back tomorrow for another installment!

So, in joining up with the Art-a-thon, I'll be submitting a wide variety of things, from quick comics to sketches to fully rendered pieces of art. My goal here is to push myself artistically, to experiment and play a bit, but mostly not get stuck in this idea of ONLY doing comics while the rest of my art skills atrophy.

and Striogi.deviantart.com) this is a more for-fun kind of forum for art.

The Art-a-thon challenges you to produce a piece of art every weekday. Be it sketches, drawings, color studies or finished pieces the Art-a-thon Challenge is a way to practice your skills and get more work completed.

Rules:
• Please try to submit a piece of art each weekday to the Art-a-thon. For the purpose of the challange "Holidays" also do not count as weekdays but you can post art on them if you choose.

• You don’t have to write anything to go with your piece but if you do keep it to a short description and/or medium list please.

• Please keep the rating of your pieces teen or lower. You can draw sexy pictures, just make sure it doesn't show things you wouldn't show your mom. If something is inappropriate you may be asked to take it off the blog.
